Abstract. The article considered the results of investigation
of patients' psychological status before cardiac valve prosthetics
surgery. It was supposed that the condition of waiting and vagueness
before surgery can provoke neurotic and anxious disorders. The most
part of patients had high levels of anxiety, depression and tension
before surgery. Existence and spiritual problems were revealed. In
the condition of surgery waiting the psychological defense such as
negation, regression, reactive states intensified. The interconnections
between personal characteristics and psychopathological symptoms,
between anxiety and psychological defense were revealed. The tendencies
of emotional status psychological correction discussed in conclusion.
